Southern Biscuits
19th December 2008
So I was listening to the radio the other day (I know, right) & this Hardees commercial comes on. Its some guy talking to some woman from Sanford that won a biscuit making contest or some shit & went to Hollywood to make a commercial. Anyway, towards the end of the commercial, announcer dude says “…who invented the original made from scratch Southern biscuit”. To which contest woman says “Hardees”.
According to Hardees website, they introduced biscuits in their restaurants in the 70′s (nothing more specific than that). Maybe it’s the drugs or whatever but I’m fairly certain I have memories of both of my grandmothers making made from scratch Southern biscuits well before the 70′s. They may or may not have been the original made from scratch Southern biscuits but they certainly pre-dated anything from Hardees.
What balls to claim you invented a foodstuff that has almost certainly been around for 200 years. Maybe I should claim I invented apple pie.
